he Healgen HIV Rapid Test is a lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of the viral infection, Human Immunodeficiency Virus, in human blood. It is intended to be used as a screening test and as an aid in the diagnosis of infection.

HIV is caused by the viral infection of a retrovirus that attacks the human immune systems response mechanism, eventually weakening it to the point where mundane complications can become fatal. The progressive degradation of the immune system unless prevented by pharmaceuticals becomes AIDS, or Acquired Immune deficiency Syndrome.
