Enteral Nutrition
Sip and tube feed nutrition
Enteral nutrition can be consumed via sip feeds or also tube feeds, if a patient cannot swallow. In this case, a thin tube is either led through the nose into the stomach or through the abdominal wall directly into the stomach or the intestine.
Enteral nutrition can, for example, be used to treat malnutrition following an accident or operation or for cancer patients. Nutritionally complete enteral nutrition products contain all the nutrients required by a person including proteins, carbohydrates, fats and fiber as well as vitamins, minerals and trace elements.
