ARTHUS

ARTHUS Artificial Human Sera (ARTHUS) for the Standardization of in-vitro Allergy Diagnostics The availability of well-defined quality control sera (positive human sera) is essential for the development, production, evaluation, standardization and quality control for Allergy in-vitro Test Systems. However, human control sera are not existent for all allergens. In addition, serum samples from commercial serum banks (often serum pools) show often variable quality and are normally very expensive. Another reason for variable or different results between the test systems may be that the allergens are coming from different sources, raw materials and different manufacture processes, release procedures and storage conditions. Standardized reference material is not available for the determination of allergen-specific Immunoglobulin E. The use of artificial human sera could be a step for the standardization of Allergy in-vitro Test Systems.
