Micrima is a UK based company who have developed a new, whole breast imaging system- MARIA. This system uses radio-waves so no ionising radiation, this means no risk to patient or operator and no special facility needed to house the equipment. It also doesn't use compression in the scan so is comfortable for patients. In recent trials, it has proven effective at detecting lesions, particularly in dense tissue an area we know other modalities struggle in.
