Gastroenteric Virus

The viruses that commonly cause gastroenteritis in children and adults are Rotavirus, Norovirus, Astrovirus and enteric Adenovirus. These viruses are frequently associated with diarrhea and vomiting in children under 5 years of age, and sporadic cases have been described for hospitalized children. Norovirus in particular are a major cause of outbreaks of gastroenteritis in adults. The usual transmission route for gastroenteric virus is person to person spread by the fecal-oral route.
PowerChek™ Gastroenteric Virus Real-time PCR Kit series are intended for the qualitative detection of major gastroenteric viruses in a complex sample like stool, environmental and food.
