Akesis Galaxy RTi - Stereotactic Radiosurgery System

The Akesis Galaxy® RTi system* is a high-precision, image-based rotating gamma system used for Stereotactic Radiosurgery/Fractionated Radiosurgery (SRS/FRS) of intracranial and head/upper neck-based lesions in radiation oncology and neurosurgery.

The Akesis Galaxy RTi system combines the proven efficacy of gamma radiation with state-of-the-art rotational technology to optimize treatment planning and delivery. The system’s dynamic, rotational delivery provides more coverage and flexibility in shaping the dose distributions as opposed to traditional, fixed sector-based delivery. Real-time, in-line CBCT and kV/kV imaging provides physicians unprecedented insight and 3-dimensional assurance in treatment delivery, while reducing or eliminating the time between imaging and treatment.

By rotating the gamma sources during treatment only 30 sources are required (versus 192 found in competitive systems). With the sources contained in a compact source drawer, the complexity of installation and source loading/reloading is dramatically reduced. Combined with 4 available collimator sizes and the flexibility to perform full or partial arcs, users can deliver thousands of potential beams to optimize dose delivery and treatment times, "shrink-wrap" dose to the target(s), and help lower dose to critical structures and normal tissues.

The Akesis Galaxy RTi employs a modern user interface and simplified workflow. Once the patient is setup and aligned, with a single button click the entire treatment progresses with no further required user interaction, no matter how complex the collimator shot design.

Higher patient throughput and less downtime for source replacement are just two of the ways Akesis delivers a high ROI. By simplifying SRS, the Akesis Galaxy RTi potentially reduces the number of staff required, a benefit for both busy urban clinics as well as community-based centers.
