ß III Tubulin
β III Tubulin ELISA-VIDITEST human anti-β III TUBULIN kits are intended for the detection of IgG and IgM antibodies to β III Tubulin in human serum/cerebrospinal fluid. ELISA-VIDITEST mouse anti-β III TUBULIN kit is intended for detection of IgG and IgM antibodies to β III Tubulin in mouse serum. Protein tubulin is the major component of cytoskeletal microtubules, it consists of α and β subunits. Heterodimeric complexes of α and β tubulins interact longitudinally to form protofilaments, which connect themselves laterally to form microtubules. Isotype III of the ß tubulin subunit (tubulin ß III) is expressed exclusively in microtubules of neural cells. Neuronal damage releases celullar proteins, among them tubulin ß III, into the extracellular space and there those proteins might trigger an immune response with production of autoreactive antibodies of class IgM or IgG. The level anti–tubulin antibodies then reflects indirectly the degree of damage and inflammation within the neuronal tissues.
