The Australian Council on Healthcare Standards (ACHS) is an independent, private, not-for-profit organisation founded in 1974. Based in Sydney, the ACHS is the country’s largest and oldest healthcare quality improvement organisation. ACHS International, a wholly owned subsidiary of ACHS, was founded in 2005 and now operates in 16 countries with over 100 members. ACHS International provides quality improvement services across four areas – quality programs, performance & outcomes, education, and global consulting. International organisations can be accredited to the comprehensive ACHS Evaluation & Quality Improvement Program (EQuIP) standards. The ACHS is accredited by the International Society for Quality in Healthcare (ISQua) External Evaluation Association (IEEA) for its standards, assessor training program, and organisational management.
